I meet you at Munich Airport, accompany you to your accommodation and help you understand the main practical tasks involved in getting started, including public transport, your SIM card, banking and health insurance.
The service is delivered across your first three days in Munich. The exact order may vary depending on your arrival time, opening hours and what needs to be completed first.

Meet at Munich Airport and travel together to your accommodation.
I meet you at Munich Airport, help you manage your luggage and travel with you to your accommodation by public transport. During the journey, I explain the ticket options and how to use Munich's transport network.

Understand your SIM card options and get connected.
We review SIM card options, the identification you may need and the steps involved in getting connected. I also help you understand which immediate tasks need attention after you arrive.

Understand the usual documents and account opening process.
I explain the usual routes and documents for opening a student bank account. You choose the provider, complete the application and sign any agreement yourself.

Understand how registration works and how to find an appointment.
I explain how city registration works, which documents you need and how to look for an appointment. Appointments in Munich are limited and are often booked well in advance, so registration may take place after the three days. You attend the appointment and complete the registration yourself.

Understand your options and get pointed in the right direction.
Before you travel, you usually hold temporary "incoming" insurance to meet the visa and blocked-account requirements. Once you arrive and enrol, you move to German student insurance, which has a public (statutory) route and a private one. I explain how they differ and where to apply so you can choose your own insurer. This is worth understanding early, because opting for private at enrolment is usually fixed for the rest of your studies.
These areas are covered across the agreed three days, with the order adjusted to suit your arrival time and opening hours. Some appointments, such as city registration, may fall outside the three days depending on availability.
B.O.B is currently offered free of charge while the service is in its pilot phase. No payment is taken at any stage, and no card or bank details are ever requested.
The service is free, but costs charged by other providers are paid by students directly:
B.O.B provides general information and practical help. It is not a taxi, transfer service or regulated legal, immigration, tax, financial or insurance adviser. More detail is in the FAQs.
Request Arrival Support
When I moved to Munich as an international student, I quickly realised that the hardest part was not getting accepted to university, it was everything that came after. From German bureaucracy to finding accommodation and settling into a new city, I had to work it all out on my own.
That is why I created B.O.B. My goal is to make those first days in Munich easier and less stressful for international students. I am based in Munich, I support every student personally, and I accept only a limited number of bookings each intake so that everyone receives dedicated, one to one guidance.
I look forward to welcoming you to Munich and helping you start this new chapter. The service is currently available in English.

No. B.O.B is currently free while it is in its pilot phase. You only pay costs charged by other providers directly, such as transport tickets, a SIM card, bank fees or insurance premiums. No payment is taken through the inquiry form.
I check whether I am available for your arrival date and reply within 24 hours. The service is free during the pilot, so there is no payment. Nothing is fixed until the details and dates have been confirmed with you.

We agree the meeting point in advance and exchange contact details. I message you when I reach the agreed location. A short video call can also be arranged before you travel.

Please tell me as soon as possible. Reasonable delays can usually be accommodated. A major schedule change may require a revised meeting time, depending on availability.
I can help you manage your luggage during the journey from the airport to your accommodation. B.O.B is not a porter service, so you must still be able to travel safely with what you bring.
Yes. There is no payment and no obligation during the pilot, so you can change or cancel your plans at any time. Please let me know as early as you can so I can adjust.

That is your decision, and B.O.B does not sell or arrange insurance. As general orientation: the "incoming" insurance many students buy for their visa is a temporary bridge, and once you arrive and enrol you move to German student insurance. For most students under 30, the public (statutory) route, offered by insurers such as TK, AOK or Barmer, is straightforward: a fixed monthly student rate with bills settled directly, rather than paying upfront and claiming the money back. A private plan can be cheaper but often works by reimbursement. Note that formally opting out of public into private at enrolment is usually binding for your whole degree. Please confirm your own situation with the insurer or your university's insurance office.
Tell me a little about your arrival in Munich. I will personally review your request and get back to you with availability and the next steps. No payment or commitment is required at this stage.
